Asthma Medications and Headaches

I have had asthma since I was 3 and I am now 39. I take albuterol pills and inhaler and tilade and accolate and prednisone. I want to find out if headaches are a result of any of these drugs. I get headaches every day! What can I do to stop this without affecting my ability to breathe? Also do emotions cause the headaches or is it the drugs? I have recently left my spouse and feel better and less upset but the headaches are still here and hurt!

Thanks for asking about asthma medications possibly causing headaches.

Albuterol is a relative of adrenaline and it may sometimes cause patients to experience headaches and a rapid heartbeat.

Prednisone can also cause headaches due to retention of sodium within the body which in turn may induce high blood pressure.

This is not to say that you have headaches due to these very effective asthma medications. Be certain to review your symptoms with your allergy and asthma specialist who is in a better position to diagnose and treat you than anyone over the internet.

Good luck.
