Allergies and Coolers
What is best: air conditioner or swamp cooler?
Thanks for asking about the difference between air conditioners and "swamp
coolers".
Air conditioners are better for allergy sufferers since they do reduce both
the indoor allergens and the humidity. The indoor air is filtered and
dehumidified in a way that lowers dramatically the indoor allergens levels.
Swamp coolers may potentially contaminate the air by allowing the growth of
bacteria in the liquid slurry that is used to cool the air.
So, my personal preference would be an air conditioning system rather than
a swamp cooler.
I hope this info helps you. Please contact you local Allergy Specialist to
learn more about allergy and air conditioning you home or apartment.
