If a child has a runny nose, is the color of the discharge important? For
example if the color is green would this be more of an idicator of infection?
Thanks!
Thank you for asking about possible infection or allergy symptoms and the
color of mucus being discharged from the nose.
The color of a discharge from the nose is only helpful if it is bloody.
Then you know that there is blood leaking from the nasal or sinus passages.
The colot of the mucus seen in the nose of some one who has allergy symptoms
can be clear, yellow or green. The color alone does not make the diagnosis
of infection or allergy.
Hope this info helps you and your family.
Good luck.
